The Holidays in Florida, and Becoming a WDW Cast Member

Hi everyone! I am slacking on keeping up with this blog! I realized I was writing most of my posts while I was nursing the baby, when he would just nurse and nurse and nurse for an hour at a time sometimes! Now he is almost 14 months and is not nursing nearly as much. And when he’s not nursing he is getting into trouble, alas, no time for mommy to sit down and write ANYTHING!
Our holidays were nice. We had family come in for Thanksgiving, so we went to the beach, took them to Ron Jon Surf Shop, showed them around the area. It was so strange having such a warm Thanksgiving and being able to be outside in the sunshine. Christmas was wonderful as well. Our first Christmas in Florida was so much fun. It is great being able to attend all of the outdoor Christmas activities in shorts and t shirts. We participated in a Christmas parade, walked around and looked at light displays, and of course went to see the decorations at WDW. The coolest display that we saw was at Fort Wilderness. The folks that camp there for the winter really go all out decorating their sites! It was amazing! We also toured some of the resorts and saw the beautiful trees and decorations all around WDW. On New Years Day we took a nice walk in the beach and just thanked God for bringing us here to Florida when he did. We love winter here in the Sunshine State!
We also celebrated 1 year as Florida residents on January 11th. Jason and I went out to a local dining establishment on the water called River Rocks to relax and celebrate without the kids!
Probably the most exciting thing that happened over the last couple of weeks has to do with me and my relationship with The Mouse. I am no longer just a tourist, Walt Disney World freak, annual pass holder, lover of all things Disney. I am now a Cast Member! I got a job with the mouse! I had applied online via the Disney Careers Website back in November and was called in for an interview. The interview was at the Casting Center, and I felt like a giddy tourist walking through to check in. It is very “Disney” in there and really, really cool! Everything went very well, and I was wait-listed for a job in either merchandising or attractions. My recruiter was pretty sure I’d get a call after the holidays that a position had opened up, and she was right on. I got the job, and the next day went in for my on boarding appointment. I will be a Part Time Merchandise Hostess at Downtown Disney, and I am very excited about this opportunity! Although I was hoping to be in one of the 4 main theme parks, this is a great place to start. Transferring within the company is fairly easy so later on I might look at other spots in the parks, or even at one of the resorts. I will take my Traditions class on Saturday the 19th. This class is mandatory for all Disney Cast Members. I am really looking forward to it; I hear its tons of fun and very informative. I also hear that you get to tour the utilidors (aka the backstage tunnel system that is under the Magic Kingdom). After my Traditions class and a few more days of training, I will officially start my job as a Cast Member! The perks of this job are just amazing. I cannot wait to start. I will continue to post on my blog about life in Florida with 5 kids as a Disney Cast Member! Yay! Stay tuned……and Have a Magical Day :)
